Key- they have guard screws on the trigger well. I had two Turks with the Ankara crest stamped over a poorly removed waffenfabrik mauser oberndorf a/n with remnants of GEW98 on the side rail!!! They had standard gew large ring threads, and can be easily rebarreled with any large ring barrel-1.1". these all had new 8mm barrels, which is why the bores are so good. They have large receiver rings of a 98, but have small ring barrels. Ihave seen many 1938 model Turks,as imported by century arms. The original 1903 also had a funny protrusion on the ejector piece to put pressure on the stripper clips. but had standard length bolts, while the 03 in 7.65 had a slightly shorter bolt with wider locking lugs. Most of the reworks were made to LOOK like the 1903. In 1938 these were mostly rebarreled in 8x57js mauser. They went to the 98 style with the 1903 model which was indeed in 7.65x53, also called argentine. My guess is you have what is a model 1938 rework, which Turkey did to most of their mausers available. Turkey went to new model Mausers as they became available.
